Terms of use

Version 1.0

These terms govern the use of DocuSense, its website, app and API, anywhere in the world. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you act for a business, you confirm you have the authority to bind it. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of your country's law continue to apply.

1. The service

DocuSense extracts structured data from documents (invoices, tax slips, pay stubs, bank statements, contracts and more) using artificial intelligence, and lets you review, export and search it and send it to your tools through the API or webhooks. Available features depend on your plan.

2. Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
  • Protect your access: password, two-factor authentication (required after the grace period) and API keys. You are responsible for actions taken with your account or keys.
  • Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You must be of the age of majority in your country, or have a parent's or guardian's permission. The service is not intended for people under 16.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload documents you are not allowed to process, or information obtained unlawfully;
  • upload viruses, booby-trapped files or malicious active content (files are scanned and uploads may be blocked automatically);
  • bypass quotas, rate limits or security measures, or try to access other customers' data;
  • copy, reverse-engineer or resell the service without written agreement, or use it to build a competing service;
  • use the service to commit fraud, forge documents or break any law;
  • use the service in breach of applicable economic sanctions or export-control rules, or on behalf of a sanctioned person.

4. Your documents and data

You keep ownership of your documents and of the extracted data. You only grant us the right to process them to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. When your documents concern other people (employees, clients), you are responsible for having a legal basis to entrust them to us; we then act as a service provider.

5. AI-generated results

Extracted data is generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions. Check it before relying on it, especially for a tax return, a credit decision or a hiring decision. DocuSense provides no tax, accounting, legal or financial advice.

6. Plans, prices and payment

  • Prices are shown in US dollars (USD). Taxes that apply in your country (VAT, GST/HST/QST, sales tax) are added at checkout. Payments are processed by our secure payment provider; your bank may charge currency conversion fees.
  • Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. The yearly price equals 11 months (1 month free).
  • Each plan includes a number of pages per month, reset every period. Unused pages do not roll over. Welcome pages offered at sign-up can be used once, after the monthly quota.
  • A document whose extraction fails, or whose type is not included in your plan, is not counted.
  • A plan change applies as soon as payment is confirmed. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal: paid access stays active until the end of the period already paid.
  • Unless the law requires otherwise, partial periods are not refunded.
  • Consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom: you have a 14-day right of withdrawal after subscribing. If you start using the service during that period, you ask for it to begin immediately and, if you withdraw, only the amount for the unused period is refunded.
  • We may change our prices with at least 30 days' notice; the new price applies at the next renewal.

7. API and integrations

The API is subject to rate limits and to your plan's quotas. Keep your keys secret and revoke them if in doubt. We version the API and announce breaking changes in advance.

8. Availability

We do our best to keep the service available and secure, but it may be interrupted for maintenance or when a provider has an outage. No guaranteed service level (SLA) is offered, except under a signed Enterprise contract.

9. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Privacy). We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, endangers the platform or remains unpaid, giving notice when possible. Your data is then handled as described in the privacy policy.

10. Intellectual property

DocuSense, its software, design and trademarks belong to us. These terms transfer no rights in them to you, beyond using the service.

11. Warranties and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect damages (lost profits, data or opportunities). Nothing in these terms limits the rights your country's law grants consumers that cannot be excluded by contract (for example Québec's Consumer Protection Act or European consumer law).

12. Governing law and language

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute falls under the competent courts of Québec. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence and may, where the law allows, bring a claim before the courts of that country.

These terms are offered in several languages. For customers in Québec, the French version prevails; elsewhere, the English version prevails if they differ, unless local law requires another language.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. For a significant change, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance by email or in the app. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept it; otherwise you may cancel at no cost.
